The exhibition runs from January to August 2024 in Finland and Japan.

Artivism and Sustainability: The Salmon War Project

The project "Salmon War" involved performance and textile installations to address sustainability issues regarding the Kemijoki River in Finnish Lapland. Artist-researchers supported Professor Vesa Puuronen, fined for graffiti protesting a power plant's impact on salmon populations, advocating for environmental action and legal reform to protect local biodiversity.

Climate Change Through Photography

The exhibition features photographs addressing climate change, highlighting collaborations in Arctic Lapland and South Africa. It includes discussions on sustainability and artistic installations, like plastic flowers. Workshops emphasize reconciliation with Sámi issues, illustrating that sustainability entails transformation, influenced by both natural and human factors during the Anthropocene.

Meren taju: Community Art on the Archipelago Sea

In July, artists Taina Kontio and Satu Miettinen initiated "SENSE OF THE SEA" in the Archipelago Sea, expanding to the Perämere region in August. The project featured swimming and walking while sharing stories about maritime history and island life. They facilitated discussions that emphasized community engagement and social change through various artistic mediums.

Poetic Peripheries: An Artistic Reflection

The Poetic Peripheries exhibition at Vivienne Crisp Gallery showcases artists Taina Kontio, Satu Miettinen, Mari Mäkiranta, and Melanie Saranto, exploring themes of social responsibility, Arctic nature, and cultural identities. The series "Smokes and Meditation" examines self-image and societal pressures, focusing on complexities of womanhood and the tensions of identity in a health-conscious society.

Everything Will Change: A Photographic Journey

“Everything Will Change” is a photographic series highlighting climate change, created through collaborations in Arctic Lapland and South Africa. The project blends images from workshops discussing sustainability and Sámi issues, emphasizing transformation in the environment. Exhibitions took place at Värinä Gallery and VB Photography Centre in late 2019 and early 2020.

Arts-Based Reconciliation in Sámiland

The University of Lapland, the Giellagas Institute, and the Saamelaisalueen Koulutuskeskus conducted a reconciliation course for aspiring mediators in Sámiland. In 2018, I participated in the training led by Antti Pentikäinen and Anne Nuorgam, practicing arts-based reconciliation with Hanna Guttorm, and co-authoring an article on this method.
