The theme of the North meets South photo exhibition is placemaking and creating a connection with a place through performative means. North and south meet in the exhibition’s pictures. The photos and related videos were shot in Trollholmsund and Fierranjohka in Saami, Vennivaara in Rovaniemi, and Daan Viljoen nature park in Namibia. Fabrics painted with reindeer blood bring their own layer to the pictures.

The augmented reality embedded in the photos works with the visitor’s own phone and a downloaded mobile application. Augmented reality brings a new kind of depth to photos, emphasizing the movement and feeling in the background of the photos, adding to the experience of the place.

The exhibition is carried out as part of the Empathy Business project funded by Business Finland, the aim of which is to identify and test digital solutions in service design and prototyping using creative methods. Place-making and artistic methods are utilized in productization.

The exhibition was created using performative place-making, light and video photography, bioart and new technology.
