Most often, when I travel, I am on a work trip. This series of images is also a by-product of a work trip. In spring 2024, I visited Ireland to evaluate a local development programme for the creative industries. From Ireland, I continued to Copenhagen, Denmark, for a board meeting of the Cirrus network. Finally, I served as an opponent at a doctoral defence in London. When travelling, creative work is a lifeline. It also adds meaning to the journey. I often use the hotel room as a studio. These images, too, show how a hotel room becomes a performative space. On work trips, what one sees of a city is often what surrounds the hotel. The outdoor images were taken near the hotels or along the way. For self-portraits, a tripod can be found either in the room or, for example, on a park bench. I play with several personas in the same image, photographed from the front and from behind. Space or travel does not always need to be taken so seriously. Travel can sometimes also involve a sense of achievement, as if one must go everywhere and see all the best places. This becomes easier if one divides into many. The images also include augmented reality (AR). They are accompanied by videos that can be viewed with the Artivive app downloaded onto a phone.
