Näkyjä” (visions) urban art exhibition in Kuopio 30.12.2014-25.1.2015

I’ve been processing with “wings” for some time. The first set of photographs around wings I took in summer 2014 on Hietasalo island. I had sewn a T-shirt with small wings for my daughter Ruusu to play around. She was exploring the island wearing the wings shirt, and I was taking photographs. We were visiting Ruusu’s godmother Taina Kontio, a good friend and visual artist, during the summer holidays. Hietasalo island is an almost magical place in the archipelago in front of Kuopio city. These photographs formed an installation at “Näkyjä” (visions), an urban art exhibition in Kuopio from December 30, 2014, to January 25, 2015. The exhibition was organized by Valmed, a media artists association in the Kuopio region. Part of the installation was a storytelling workshop where children in the playground could tell stories related to the images and remember the summer greenery.
